Fruit Picking
Little Devil Backpackers is located at the gateway to Tasmania’s Southern orchard region, one of Australia’s premier fruit and berry growing districts. Many seasonal jobs are available during the harvest season which generally runs from late November thru the end of May.
We are a "working hostel" and assist our guests to find work as a free service to our guests, however the job goes with the bed, so if you leave us and take the job we have provided you, you will forfeit your bond.
Competition for jobs is strong, so it is strongly recommended that you register your names with the farmers and packers by September each year for the coming season. Accommodation is also in limited supply, so you need to book early. You must have a valid work visa, Australian tax file number and Australian Bank account.
We are situated at the Northern end of Huonville within walking distance or a modest bicycle ride to many of the local orchards. While a motor vehicle will ensure you access to a greater number and variety of jobs, it is not essential, aside from walking we do provide a limited number of bicycles for rent.
Fish Farming
Limited jobs in fish farming/processing are available from August each year.
You must be willing to work at least 3 to 6 months, Koreans welcome.
